Oh hell yeah! Congratulations, buddy! Super excited for you. Way to keep digging man.
Thanks bud. It's been alot of fun! Alot of work but fun too!Oh hell yeah! Congratulations, buddy! Super excited for you. Way to keep digging man.
Looks like the trans leak is coming from 2 places one around the pan. I didn't rtv it big mistake apparently. It's gonna come off and be rtv. The other one looks like a coolent line. I was looking at it while it was cooling down and laid my hand against the exhaust and stopped looking hahaha. Burnt the crap out of my fingers. Good think I wasn't filming i would have had to edit out some F bombs lolCongrats Kevin! I bet your cam/lifters will be fine. It sounds good, and towards the end there....it looked like the temp had settled down and was fine. Hopefully, the trans leak will be something simple. I over filled one once upon a time, and it was puking out the vent behind the converter. Looking forward to the "Me and the dogs go for a ride" episode!
I been working all weekend so no. I did work on the wiring a little bit yesterday after the work in the snow lol. Hopefully this week while I'm off I can get the trans leak worked out and take it down the road a little waysSo.....I'm betting you aren't out in the snow beating on the Dart? If not, I don't blame you! Been a chilly and snowy weekend here, and y'all get about the same weather we do.
Just make sure to have that 100% sorted out before you take it for a drive...Been working a stupid amount of over time here lately plus the weather sucked in February so I haven't gotten anything done till today. I finally got the new starter on. Man the high torque mini starter really turns it over fast! It's crazy how much difference there is. Got it started and just listened to it run most of the day lol. I measured for my driveshaft its gonna have to be shortened exactly 2 inches. I might try to do that tomorrow just so I can scoot it down the road one time. I still haven't figured out the stupid kickdown I have the correct linkage now and still can't get it right. I can't seem to find the hole in the side of the transmission that the kickdown bolts to and it just don't fit right. I may end up doing the cable that I didn't want to do.

Thanks that helps im gonna go out and and work on it this morning. I think the mounting hole threads may be different because that the place i tried to mount mine the threaded stud wouldn't go in. I will probably start with the driveshaft lol.318/727 in a '76 Truck but the 904s in the Darts lay out about the same:

Thanks man I appreciate that. Its been a long journey and I still have a long way to go but its been fun! Its crazy to me going back to page one on this thread and seeing how far its came. Im really glad I documented this adventure lolI’m looking forward to you getting that linkage sorted out Kevin. As soon as you get the driveshaft shortened and she starts moving....... I want to see a pic of you cruising down the road with the dogs hanging out the windows!!! I have enjoyed your build.
We'll see about that idk if it will turn them over remember who built this thang hahaI want to see a big Smokey burn off!...
I think its gonna be a ripper tbh. This thing revs like nothing iv ever driven. I can just tap the throttle and it jumps to 3k like nothing. Im trying to keep my expectations modest so im not disappointed. But I think it's gonna run very strongIt better tire fry with those 107 piston and that cam regardless of gear ratio. If it doesn’t it’s the tune. You’ll get it rolling right in short order.
Yea I have done that a few times it doesn't seem to me like im getting a good flow for instance there was one time today I was letting it warm up and I was waiting for the tstat to open the gauge inside got up to 210 and the water in the radiator was cold like literally I could dip my finger in it and it was room temperature cold. The top radiator hose was cold. And the water didn't seem to be churning at all. After I shut it down the temp of the water (in the radiator) went up I guess that was water coming from the block floating up. It just seems like the thermostat never opened. The next couple times it did the same but eventually it did the rad hose and the water in the radiator got hot but the interior gauge was reading 220 before then. The mechanical temp gauge in the radiator never got above 180. But the water in the block could have been alot hotter it its not circulating. You may need to let the coolant purge more air that maybe trapped. Did you run it with the cap off for a while? let it get hot enough just before it decides to spew out.
Hmm I may have to try that. I hate to break the seal on that thermostat housing tho. That was one of the few things that didn't leak hahaHalifax takes and drills an 1/8" hole in his thermostat that lets the air out of the lower block and heads. Says he does that to all of his thermostats so they don't airlock to start with.
Thanks hopefully next week I can get the driveshaft done. Im almost considering paying someone and having it done. I hate doing that. But im working 72-84 hours a week now I just don't have the time lol.Sounds like trapped air to me. Your water pump is not pushing a hella lot at idle. We need yeah to go blast that thing down the road get some rpms up. While it’s warming up to temp. Then shut her down let cool and check coolant level.
