That would work, but till he does all that he'd be further ahead just buying PT. I would just build it with whatever he has. Paint a couple coats of whatever exterior paint is on hand. when it starts to rot you don't need to feel bad scrapping it lol.Make a plywood box large enough to hold one piece or more at a time and line it with plastic, then fill it with preservative, and let lumber soak some. Do all lumber and no more problems with rot or bugs.

Honestly - for a sandbox for your kids I wouldn't use that stuff.may do just that!
not a sand box, a toy box for their other toys such as balls, kites, the other random crap they have that the wind blows all over the yard. we tried one of those little plastic outdoor boxes and it just blows away with the wind. Thought it maybe a heavy wooden box will hold up to the wind better.Honestly - for a sandbox for your kids I wouldn't use that stuff.
You really have white pine? That's reasonbly rot resistant. Just make sure it can dry out, but honestly, does it need to last more than 5-10 years?
Use a stain. An oil stain. That will keep the moisture from soaking in and the pigments will protect from UV. Ground contact will always be a problem but less so if its not on a low spot.
Very little construction lumber is made of white pine. Mostly used for boards, and even there its limited.
Look at the stamp on the lumber and you'll know what group of species it is. SPF is spruce pine fir. Hem-Fir is mostly Hemlock. SYP is Southern Yellow Pine.
If I remember right the deal included an old 440??My belvedere got delivered !!!!
So nice to be able to sit in it and drive to PA in my mind.
The trunk is huge and the car is every bit of 60s I thought it would be.
I had the theory that it looked worse than it actually is. I was right!!! One side hardly has any rust at all.
The body definitely needs work but what is there can be worked so no expensive panels to hunt.
I am glad too, because I have a feeling the sedan specific parts would be a challenge to find
Yay!!
HAHA why?Build them a bunker!
You never know what is buried beneath your feet...toy box under construction...

I would think any building supply could get it. Might not stock though. Got anyone near you that builds carports? Places that do prefabs? I think the stuff on my shed is aluminum. (now I am going to have to take a magnet out and check, lol) That came from a carport/smokers area at work that a truck ran into. Was cheaper to by a new one than repair it and most of the roof was in good shape.Hey, does anyone have an idea/link where to get a small amount of ALUMINUM roofing , sheets? Steel everywhere....Thanks

im scared too. them people can be nutty. I saw one episode of that doomsday show a while back, had some dude building man sized hiding holes to escape the plague or something like that.Do a search on doomsday bunkers. People build some wild ****!
So we are in a park, right across the street from the San Francisco city hall, it was called by the locals "homeless park". We had set up a carnival there, quite a few years ago....tornado shelter?
If it had been run full of people, it would have crashed right thru the dang roof/ground. You could not tell it was over a garage. So we are in a park, right across the street from the San Francisco city hall, it was called by the locals "homeless park". Well any way, we are set to open, and this guy with a hard hat comes tearing into the park, screaming O ****!!!! WTF, right? Well we had set up a ride that weighs, with its water tanks full, to add weight to keep it on the ground, about 400K pounds. No problem, right? Only problem was, the park was built over an underground parking garage which we had no clue about, and the roof was only rated at, well, no way 400 thousand pounds! Jeezz tear that frickin ride down and get it off the roof, it is cracking!!!! Not our finest moment...
