we borrowed a Fairbanks trans from Jim Hale back in the day , it wasn't worth a s--- , went back to B_M , parts in our own trans that my partner built . We had some trouble with B_M convertors too , but most were good ...jfyi

I know a guy that had to back his dominator off ,to run 9:60`s , so as not to break his 440 blocks , car would go next to 8`s / yeah , 440... also know a currant racer here that has his backed off to 10 o`s....

unless u have a big , hi h.p. engine in a really small area , heat build up is terrible ...

I`ve never been a bill Jenkins fan , but he said in one of his books , that his engines made the most power when they were about to melt the (solder out of the heads!) this was back before all the kick *** heads came out ...

AND , its supposed to open at the designed temp. , but does not hold the engine to that temp , just used to maintain the minimum temp....normal to run hotter...

if , you have access to a flow bench , you might try working on those 2 intake runners -----

I had 2 , 426 hemi`s , back in the day neither one of them had piston issues or any other issues , they were exactly like the spec books said too , very well built
