    Sick 66 trip updates.

Great trip Joe! I love road trips and the goal of my 68 cuda rebuild is to do a leisurely tour of the U.S. including the mother road. I'm thinking 4-6 wks. First thing I ever bought off ebay from San Jose and drove it 2800 miles to Ohio. Old cars beat you up and I would stop every 200 miles. I...

What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Went to Mopar Madness ar Dragway 42 Friday and Saturday. Had to drive an hour back home Friday to attend a grad party and drove back Saturday trying to dodge the rain. Didn't work out too well as I hit a hellacious downpour about 20 mins away and had to pull off to zip up the rear window under a...

    Power Antenna Question

The reason I'm interested is that I never put a hole in my car covers for the fixed antenna to poke through and thought a power antenna would solve that. Of course power antennas were never available on A-bodies but I bought 2 of them at a swap meet a couple years ago. Probably most used on...

    Camping at Carlisle?

I'm talking tent camping of course. (Father of 2 Eagle Scouts) But I've slept in the back of FB Barracudas too many times to count. Sometimes at drag strips I'll park the cuda with a car cover, crawl inside and nobody even knows I'm there. I used a tent 2 times last year. It sounds like an...

    Camping at Carlisle?

I was about to register for Carlisle 2024 (-20%) and saw the option for camping. I've always stayed in hotels and last year's was terrible because the hotel we usually stay at suddenly closed a month before the event. Not much to choose from at that point so had a bad experience. I was...

1971 Dodge Dart Rancho Cordova, CA. Pick-N-Pull (Not Mine)

My niece was looking for a car to buy during the CFC era and asked me to go along so we headed to the local "automile". For some reason, I pulled into a local boneyard. They had rows and rows of mostly large cars and pickups with CLUNKER painted on the windshields. What I temember most was a...

    67 spool k frame

63-72 idler and pitman studs point towards the hood. (Nuts on top) 73-76 studs point towards the ground. (Nuts on bottom) Idler and pitman arms must be mated to the same era center link. All 67-72 or all 73-76. The tierod assemblies are all the same. I have a 73 style K and discs in my 68 but...

    Norwalk World of Mopar.

June 22-24. I'll bump this to the top. There's plenty of room on the showfield. It's shaping up to be more of a race than a show but it's all Mopar. We got bumped for a truck pull last summer but the Baders will make it up this year. This has been on my calendar since it was announced but I'm...

    Power Nation /6

My son sent me the link this morning and I just watched it on my big screen. High dollar complicated build but the torque numbers at the end are very impressive.

1/2” x 20 ARP long wheel studs on front disks.

I recently bought alloys for my 68. All 4 wheels are LBP with 1/2"-20 studs.Test fitting the bare wheel on the rear I found the thread engagement of the nuts to only be 7 threads which calculates to 0.35. Approx 11/32") at 20 threads/inch. They are stock Chrysler studs measuring 1.72 overall...

Rock n Race West Salem, OH July 7-9

Ooops....I thought I posted this already, sorry for the short notice. This is old school drag racing and music, cars must be 1979 and older. NOT Mopar specific but we put up a good showing. Yay! No brand new Corvettes, Mustangs, Challengers, etc. They usually have 8-10 live bands spread over 2...

    '65 Mustang Hi-po vs '65 Formula S

Yeah well....after the Cobra was out, Ford approached Shelby about making a hi-po Mustang. I don't know the exact quote but Carroll said something like: "What!? That secretary's car?" He had to redo the front and rear suspensions to correct the geometry and improve traction. I've worked on...

    '65 Mustang Hi-po vs '65 Formula S

Yep, I remember street racing my 67 4 speed 273-4 against a 390 Mustang and I beat him. True story was the stock 68 Charger in Bullitt ran circles around the Mustang. They modified the car so it could make a pesentable showing. The engine sounds were also dubbed in from Ford race cars and all...

    '65 Mustang Hi-po vs '65 Formula S

Around 1971, my GF's (later wife) younger sister was attending Ohio U in Athens OH. She needed a ride back to school so my GF and I took her using their 66 Mustang coupe. We did the round trip in one day, probably 3-1/2 hrs each way with me doing all the driving on highways winding through the...

A833 main case hole pattern PCD, casting SBM/6 bell housing New Zealand

Well, the transmission is located concentrically by your 110mm OD of the bearing retainer. The 4 mounting bolts (7/16"-14 UNC here) are used to retain the trans to the bellhousing. The 4 holes in the trans are clearance holes for the bolts. Most likely about .030 oversize. Can't your...

    new to the game

There are lots of builds in this section of FABO. You should spend some time reading through several of them. Do you already have an engine? There are differences between the truck and car version. You really need to provide more info. G3 and 67 cuda is pretty broad. Holley makes mounts and...

Bond a fiberglass scoop to a steel hood

I talked to the AAR representative several yrs ago at the Mopar Nats about glass hoods and scoops. He said the SS/AH guys did not bond their scoops because the joint will eventually crack. Steel hood and glass scoop? NO Way! You can have the most beautiful paint and it will crack. Studs and...

Mopars at Junction, Chardon, OH June 11, 2023

Just a reminder of this Sunday. Weather could be slightly rainy late afternoon. If it's rainy in the morning, it's best to call as they do have a rain date June 18. This is a LOT of work for them to put this show on. They have to clear out the showroom and the entire lot outside so here's hoping...

Soft brakes after rear disc install

I don't mess with power brakes at all on old Mopars.....but I think your issue may be the piston in the MC is starting too far in. You are not uncovering the rear port to feed the fluid into the rear piston area. Is there an adjustment somewhere to shorten the pushrod? That 1/4" metal piece may...

Brake rotors for KH factory brakes made by Centric - critical review

The 2 cars I drive a lot are a 68 cuda and 64 Valiant. Drivers NOT show cars. I plumbed them eliminating the factory distribution valve. (Dual MC conversion on the 64) If I have a leak somewhere, it is pretty obvious without a red light telling me so. I run the front brake MC output to a brass...

    Plugging holes in truck bed?

Quickest would be snap in plugs available at hardware stores. Plastic or shiny plated metal. You could seal them with a dab of silicone. I was just looking at the bed of my Comanche yesterday. I believe it was a work truck when new and there are multiple 1/2" holes filled with deteriorating...

1964 plymouth valiant Slant six to 340

Brewer's has new speedo gears. I bought one last year for my 65 vintage B&T A833. Speedo is within 1 MPH at 70 according to my GPS. Nobody talks sbout the B&T trans having a ball bearing tail housing compared to sleeve bearings in newer ones. NASCAR teams used them into the mid to late 60's.

1964 plymouth valiant Slant six to 340

64 Val has 106" wheelbase. 67 and newer 2 doors went to 108". Ball and trunnion on trans in 64. IIRC the early shaft is only 2-3/4" diameter, newer are 3". A 66 shaft could work because it's the same wheelbase and u-joint. If it was me I'd get a new one made or a good longer one shortened. I...
