massive reconfiguration time again.

I'm not running. You COULD have come over here.

See how easy I make things?
Where is here, I may have to bring the 98 CR 500 over and teach you how to ride.

LOL ANYWAYS.....
I've made the decision this evening that I'll take the other spindle off and just drop the whole K frame. After that pull the grill, front fenders, doors, plastic race seats, windshield, and cut the roll bar out. After that I can pull the dash and completely rebuild the wiring. Easy no?

My favorite place to work on wiring harness is on my couch, it's easy, I suggest getting a diagram with color codes.

Actually I had a color coded wiring diagram made at an office depot years ago when I first got the car. Got to know those 27 wires befor I gotter runnin. I Googled 73 duster wiring diagram and pulled up images. Did that at the office Depot and they just made copies for me and blew them up. I think I paid a $1.87 for the two and one of them is like a 2 foot by 2 foot copy all blown up and color. I shouldn't get into much trouble with the wiring as I'm looking to redirect/tighten up more so than reconfigure. No more plug in the firewall, everything redirected under the fenders.

Depends on where you are in Idaho but I'm in central Washington.

I bought my Maico from a guy that was sponsored by ATK when ATK was rebadging Maicos. He drove up from SLC and I drove over and met him in Boise. I was living in Vancouver at that time.

What year is the CR?

Sorry to throw your thread off jpar.

Unless you already did it, you know you need to replace every bushing. And while your at it...might as well call Dick at Firm Feel and order up a kit to rebuild the steering box. Unless it's still power steering. Then you might as well convert it to manual.

Then (because you're already in there) you can weld up the K member and reinforce all the spots Chrysler didn't. I weld up all the areas that are spot welded.

Get to work. You'll be busy.

I had a few hours to play today. Had the driver-side spindle off and started with the p-side. Right off the bat, upper ball joint gave me a ruff go *&^$@/#! Fifth time was a charm *,^/#$! On the other hand when I went at the K-frame bolts I didn't wanna mess around. So, I went and grabbed a 4ft piece of pipe and slipped it over my breaker bar- dammit! They were so loose I could have taken them off with a 6" hand ratchet. The grill, fenders, and doors came off with out much drama. My time is going to get screwed off tomorrow, but I'm sure I should be able to get supplies to start cutting on the roll bar. Need to get the steering column windshield and all that wiring and break stuff out of the motor compartment. That will be next...

That was a lot to get out! LOL I was trying to get all that out and be as clear as I could and spell most things correctly and have some half-assed punctuation once in awhile. Paragraphs holy crap are you kidding me! I'm not AJ, I don't post like that all the time! Thank you for the paragraph correction Triple-R but.....
I was busy, I was sick, I had to pooop!! LOL
Everybody does realize I voice command all this on my cell phone and come back and correct right?

Yeah yeah. Blah blah blah. LOL

I would recommend against a total massive reconfiguration...at least all at one time. Do it one thing at the time. Run the car. One more thing. Run the car. If you change too many things at one time, you may slow the car down and then it would be difficult to determine which mod was responsible for the slow down. JMO.

It will be what it will be, as far as time slips. I had more fun doing 14.2 ta 14.4 with that pink 318 and not worrying about expenses. This reconfiguration is about comfort and clean up. The drive train is a proven 11.5 to 11.7 combo (should be 10.9 to 11.1). I'm taking out the race seats, roll bar, and the lightweight doors. And adding a full interior with dyno mat, stock doors (+ 50lbs each), and a $40 hood to cut a hole in. I'm going to ad 500 lbs and enjoy a 12.2 in comfort. Witch in turn should make me want to go to the track more often? Besides I have a reputation to protect - in the last three winters previous I did 10 different changes each winter and didn't know what did what. It's how I roll :realcrazy:

The roll cage will be a weight loss.... but not 500 pound worth.
I still have a full interior in my car. Just can't bare the thought of gutting it.
The day it needs a roll cage, will be the day i have to rethink it all.

When i complain that i can't make it into the next sec. or the next tenth.......my buddy just rolled his eyes, point to the interior of my car. "Theres 3 tenths,.......and it won't cost you a single dollar to get it"!
Yeahhh I Know..............:BangHead: :D

I've had a lot of fun with a 4bbl-teener, allbeit with 3.55s,3.91s,and 4.30s.That teener was my winter engine 5 years running. Every winter it got a different transmission.

My favorite was the OD box with the GVOD-splitter; 7 useable gears. Yeah I ran it with the 4.30s! Double OD was a 2.38 final drive, making 65=1923. Second over was 72mph@5000rpm; having used 4 ratios to get there, but just 1 pull on the stick. The ratios were 3.09-2.41-1.67-1.30-1.00-.78od-.55od with splits of .78-.69-.78-.77-.78-.71 that was an 1100 rpm powerband requirement, and ran like a CVT, a scalded dog.
If you ever luck into a GV, I guarantee a stone stock teener with just a 4bbl and 4.30s will shock you.

It was pretty good with an A 998/2800TC too.Actually that was one of my favorites. Not for performance, but; one winter I put a 2.76 rear gear in it, and I used to manually shift it into 3rd gear as fast as she'd take WOT,and listen to the TQ moan. I loved that.

When we got the car the interior was already out of it and we brought the car home with the interior in the back of the U-Haul LOL I never did do anything like put the backseat in or anything before so it was kind of easy when we just started going performance. Now we just want to drive it more and have it more comfortable.

Okay more progress. I got a few minutes this evening so I took out the seats, harnesses, automatic shifter pedestal, and the steering column. Also I cut the zip ty holding the clutch pedal to the floor all summer. I'm surprised while I was under there the pedal didn't come out and whack me in the forehead for doing that LOL I solemnly promise never to do that again LOL
