Stop in for a cup of coffee

Well now that I know they are good, it's an option.

Even still, I think I still like the 65 front end better. The 65 stuff is just more available. 63 is a lot of one year only and even the front bumper is almost impossible to find. The 65 bumpers are around, they interchange with 64 and barracuda so quite a few around.

I definitely want the 65 dash and bucket seats, so I am not too worried about originally on this little crusher refugee. I also decided to paint it a non mopar color (i will reveal closer to the time). The paint is going to be a high dollar paint system. With no expense being spared for paint, I am marrying the car for what I am going to spend on it vs. What it's worth.

Besides I like the bumper guards on the 65 bumper, that single detail makes it worth using the 65 front end.

My 66 Wagon now has a non-Mopar color... It's a light baby blue metallic...

Here's the engine for it a 72 318 with 67 920 closed chamber heads, ported and 1.88" intakes and 1.60" exhaust valves..... I'm having issues with the intake manifold fit right now, but trying to work that out...

I have a 69 318 warranty block (no numbers) for my wagon. I don't know what casting heads it has or any other info. I do know someone rebuilt it and bored it 30 over and it has some kind of hot cam..

I have driven this engine before and it's strong, real strong. I think it will get this wagon pushed up monument pass no problem. (Monument pass is a mountain pass in Colorado, and it will show you how strong or weak your car is)

That baby blue looks good.

Is the engine color international harvester red?

No, Mopar Red from the Mopar rattle cans... I like the contrast that sets it off from the light blue paint...

Plus the stock 273's of that era were that color red, so I can pass it off as a 273 if I want to...

Mopar Performance Engine Paint

Plus I have Rhoades lifters in it... They bleed down at idle and pump up by 3500 RPM and they tick when it idles... It will sound just like a 273 with solid lifters...

The Rhoades lifters give smoother idle, better MPG, and higher vacuum on the low end, without sacrificing the top end performance of the cam at high RPM above 3500... It's like having an adjustable cam...

Is going to be an automatic??

Is going to be an automatic??

Of course... I don't have any 4 speeds...

I will have a 904 rebuilt to put in as I hear the 727 will not fit the early A trans tunnel without modification...

I have already rebuilt the suspension and installed an 8 3/4" axle with an open 2.76 gear... 10" drum brakes all the way around, but do have a 4 piston KH set-up I can swap in if I decide to... I may just run the drums for now since they are all brand new and already done...

I should have remembered right away, you are automatically karl.

I like the 904 any day over a 727, if the 727 can be avoided. I never heard of a one way sprague letting go in a 904 and taking someone's foot off.

I think the 904 is more stable and tougher than people give it credit for.

I like 727's better as they are stronger, but 904's are good also...

I had one in my 68 Barracuda that I drove to 500,000 miles with only one rebuild on the trans... I had my trans guy in Detroit build it heavy duty... He did good work, however is gone now, so I need to find another good trans guy...

I'm not happy with the work that I've seen from John Cope in Indiana... I may have to try the 727 specialist in Indiana...

Or my head guy in Detroit knows a guy near him that did a good job on the 72 year 727 in Eddie's Dart, but Eddie found a 69 year trans and had John Cope rebuild it... It doesn't shift as good as the one my head guy in Detroit had done for us... John Cope has had two chances to get the 69 trans right, and it still doesn't shift right... I told Eddie to put the 72 year trans back in... Who cares about the year of the trans in the car as long as it shifts right...

You might be able to rebuild a 727 yourself.

I did a couple in auto school. If rainy can do it, ANYONE can, because she is the last person on the planet who is likely to do such things lol.

Automatics really look more complicated than they really are.

My buddy and I in high school tried to take a 904 apart once and crashed and burned...

I would like to take a class to learn how to rebuild one myself.. I like to do as much of my own work as I can so I know that it's done right...

The guy that I used in Detroit for 30 years is the only guy who could get them right... When you installed the kick down linkage and had it adjusted properly, it shifted perfectly... Not too soon, or not too late... That's why he was my go to guy for decades... I tried other shops, but they couldn't get it right like Alan did... Last I heard, Alan got incurable MLS and couldn't even walk through his own house... I think he passed away by now... His shop is closed... I really miss him...

Morning Guys...looks pretty quiet in here this morning.
Didn't feel like fixing breakfast so treated myself to Mickey D. Have one about a mile away.
Car show today. I haven't been to one in a month, so I'm ready to roll.
Hope you all have a great weekend with whatever you do!!

You must have not been feeling well. Going to one tomorrow with the 59 Fury. Cool and maybe wet. Have fun

No, since the first of April, we went nearly every weekend including six overnight trips.
Still been working nearly everyday for an hour of so on the cars.
Good luck tomorrow, hope you have some better weather!!

Taking the Jalopy to a local show today. Benefits local schools. Entry fees are school supplies. 100% of all proceeds are used to buy more school supplies. Should be a good time. Lots of home made metal trophies and raffle prizes made by the millwrights of the host company Ball Metal. Weather is cooperating should be in the low 80’s and a nice breeze. Going to be a good day!
