To tight bet the reluctor is hitting the pickup. Both will be toast the pickup might work but now moisture can get in there by the "blade" on it.I set them at .012. Good news is I have parts for it!
At very least I will open up the gap before I run it again. Or could just pull it and let you do your thing with it.
Might have the right one for it need all the specs carb 1 or two bbl and year. Good news You can finish mudding the ceiling for a trade!
75 1bbl

Got a 73 that is just about the same. Want it I can just send it to ya pay the ride then when it gets nice out bring it up and we will throw it on a scope.

I always set them at the highest, the dam cam plate part of the shaft is usually off a bit and wobbles, have some really bad ones in the scrap bucket around .050.

Just had a really bad one on a 65 440 hp one what a pia to find a good shaft had to get another distrib to steal it from.

Just about? What would be different? Is that one you already rebuilt? Might want to do that, but will try to adjust the gap back out a little and see what it does first. Can probably do that tomorrow AM. I have long weekends all month, so if the weather ain't too bad...

It will prob work but would not trust it if it gets humid though. One of the reasons I throw them in the ultrasonic cleaner if it is damaged it will show up then.

spec on mine called for .008 gap. and instructs to try a .010 and it should not fit.

National Weather Forcast looks decent for the weekend in this corner. Even midweek doesn't look that bad. More sloppy than deep. I don't know where Wolfie is getting his weather from??

Starting late tomorrow. I've heard a couple different, They're all over the place with the timing and totals. Probably be pretty accurate by morning news.

Reminds me of last year around this time stocked up on beer, diesel, forgot to get gas for the generator though.......

I'm just looking to mess with it as little as possible before I bring it up your way. If I pull it, I could end up worse. Timing :BangHead:

Keefer when you gap it turn the motor 180 and see if it is the same on the other side.

OK.Sounds good. I dont have factory manual from the electronic era. Well if you find there's slop and its hitting seems best to take hoppy up on the loaner. Or buy it as a spare. I have 2 goods ones, one for parts and the the tach drive one in my stash. That doesn't include one on the running engine in the car. For the Jeep I only have one spare, which is the original. But don't let me try influence you....
