How You All Fairing On Health Care Increases?

-
My health insurance costs more than any house payment I ever had and I live in a half million dollar house. Every year they send a notice saying my plan no longer fits the guidelines so I have to shop it around and it goes up every year. Insurance premiums are my largest expense and the deductible is through the roof and the coverage is pure s**t. It chafes my *** that after working for 40+ years and paying taxes that winos and junkies that never did anything in life get better health coverage than I do. I don't even want to get started on this crap. VOTE TRUMP and end this farce.
Amen. I'm beyond sick of this liberal crap. I've busted my *** and made responsible decisions. I bought a house that I could actually afford and waited to start a family until I could actually take care of them. I know... i'm crazy. I shouldn't have to work for this, it's my right as a world citizen.
I'm tired of laziness and poor decision making skills being viewed as handicaps or alternative life choices.

There we go blaming it all on one person again.:D
It's not one person and never has been, but we sure are encouraged to separate into to opposing parties and keep ourselves busy blaming each other for it instead of holding the total entity actually controlling it all accountable.
Sorry, gotta disagree. It's called Obama Care for a reason. It was his baby and his congressional henchmen railroaded it through. "You want to see what's in it? Vote for it." These big increases were postponed on purpose, so that he'd be out (or almost out before the **** hit the fan. I am retired military, so I am pretty set for coverage. I thank God I don't have to deal with this mess.

Why is is that nobody wants to point any blame at a trillion dollar empire that charges a couple years take home wages for a few hours of their time? Why is it that nobody wants to talk about the medical industries and the health insurance industries being traded on Wall Street? Why is it that nobody wants to talk about how America pays triple what other countries pay while the quality of our health care ranks near the bottom of all the industrialized countries?
This is a bullshit industry where the health care industries and the insurance industries are in bed together. It'll never be fixed because we're busy point fingers in other directions, like the government. The sooner you get over that, the better off things will be.
This is not "Free Market Capitalism" and it never will be. You can start by getting rid of the insurance companies, and then the health industry will charge what "we" can afford, instead of what the insurance companies can afford.

This is coming from someone who swore their monthly payments went down ,with the ACA five years ago... Witch is it? Has it improved your daily life,or made it worse?.

All I know is I had two surgeries totaling over $500,000 two years ago. I paid nothing. I pay $100 a month for health coverage. I consider myself very lucky.

Two surgeries totaling a half a million bucks and nobody wants to go there? That's half a lifetimes worth of wages for a lot of people.
I just brought my cat to the Vet and I paid $150 bucks to have an abscess removed. Had it been my son in the emergency room the cost would have been about five thousand bucks. My portion would have been $250 along with the price of prescriptions. But nobody wants to lay any blame in that direction.
Simple fact is that insurance is one mob selling us protection from another mob.

I'll talk about it. What do propose as a solution or a starting point?

If you look back eight years ago, you will find the pharmaceutical companies were some of the biggest campaign donations to Obama's first campaign. This is a pay off. It was also the time when the "swine flu" was all over the news constantly and the pharmaceutical companies again got a huge pay off from Obama and the Government in the false scare. I also recall when the job numbers were in the tank and a hot news item, miraculously Mc Donalds became exempt from Obama care, and then Mc Donalds hired 90,000 additional employees to boost the job numbers for Mr. Obama. These hires got about 4-8 hrs a week and were eventually all laid off.

I'm trying to retire but I can't until wife and I are accepted into Medicare part B so we can purchase our gap coverage and part D. Hand delivered our applications to SS 18 months ago and they lost them. Worked another year and re-applied a month ago. Still waiting to hear something. This is not optional, it is required by the government. I will be 70 in March and promised myself I would not be working at 70, perhaps yet another thing I am wrong about. What a *****, it's like dealing with the government. Oh wait------ wouldn't it be ironic if at 70 1/2 I have to start withdraws from my IRA but can't stop working because I can't get enrolled in Medicare B. The definitive first world problem-------;-)
DR-----trying to detail my grille in the rain.

I have MEDICARE. Insurance for my wife and daughter went from 1100 a month to 1400 a month(+27%) this year. Anyone who thought we were going to provide insurance for people who could not afford it and it wouldn't end up being paid for by those who could is an idiot! Obama constantly brags about the fact that "you can no longer be turned down for insurance because of a pre-existing condition". Meaning, no need to get insurance or pay for it until you need it. Don't we all wish Obama would do the same for car insurance and life insurance!!

Be careful what you wish for. If the government takes over our health care it's safe to assume it will be no better than the VA! If the government takes over healthcare instead of the money going to hospitals and insurance companies it will then go to Washington. Name something the government got involved in and it got better. If you want to understand what happens when the government runs everything you need only to look as far as the former USSR and Venezuela. Businesses are not the enemy. They hire people an write paychecks!

Lead will argue with you on that.

I will bite...... About 2 weeks ago I went onto the Quantico Marine Base and it was like a whole different world. Everyone was pretty much healthy looking and people were out exercising but let's remember where I was..... This leads to my opinion....

It all starts with the crap people put in their mouths daily.... Or the lack of sleep people get..... And parenting... No Applebee's tonight but rather a home cooked meal with real food and not processed crap.... I could write a book about what I just said.

You want to fix Healthcare, take care of yourself first and foremost. It won't happen overnight but eventually people will suddenly not be lining up at a Kidney Dialysis Center. If you think I am incorrect in my statement start a pole and get Gender, Height, and Weight from people on the board. It will show what has happened to us in the this country. But the good news is we can correct it.

I probably have more understanding of how the Healthcare Industry works from the Backroom but Leadfoot is absolutely right in that it is no more than a MOB run Industry that just so happens to have the ability to help you live....

I learned a long time ago that only I am responsible for my health. At my age I belong to a gym and go when I can-bad knees and all. The only thing I want my doctor for is my annual fasting blood work. We tweak things from there.

Thanks SLOPAR72. I agree that self-responsibility is a step in the right direction. Fortunately there has been a gradual acceptance towards healthier foods and fitness in our society recently but it is going to take a while for it to become the norm instead of the exception. Marathons, Mud Runs, Crossfit etc. is all the rage right now in my circle of friends and aquaintences (I'm in my early 40's). Better quality and gourmet foods are also slowly making there way into the mainstream. Even the National Chains are trying to adapt to the demand for it.

I have to force myself to go once a year for a checkup. The 30minutes in the waiting room around people in poor health is a wake up call to avoid that lifestyle.

And for many, it really is a lifestyle.

By no means am I a saint for self responsibility. But weighing 260 until I was 35 gives me some credentials to understand accountability on this end of the Healthcare System. I very well could have been right up in the mix waiting in line for Doctor Visits that were preventable. I weigh around 170 or there abouts and try to stay busy somehow everyday.

As for the rest of it, it's all about greed and IMO not for progressing the good of the Human Race. Most likely most of us have seen things in our lifetimes that makes your head spin in regards to the System. But let there be no doubt that in my strong opinion the ACA act was nothing more than a way for someone to get 2 terms and all that surrounded it get rich. It will come to a boil at one point but when and how it will play out who knows....

Nobody wants to live until their 80-until they are 79. (quote from my friend) For me it is all about monitoring my Blood pressure, my cholesterol and my sugar. Staying height/weight proportional and maintaining my cardio. Preventative medical is covered at no cost by all insurance so my annual fasting blood work and physical is all at no to very small cost. By establishing a baseline at 50+ and going annually you can see any changes in status year to year and take corrective action. Wife & I both have fitbits and she gets 10,000 steps a day. I try for 5,000+ but some days I can get 7-8 thousand. When I was fishing I got 17,000+ per day but those days are over:-( Not being preachy here, just passing on what I do to be able to build cars at my age) Oh yeah, I want to add the annual free flu shots and the one time free shingles shots for senior citizens. Just do it!
Got to go detail my grille and tail panel-----cheers to all--------DR-------:)

Looking at some of this logic, I see eating right helps in the over all health, etc. Same as the ex Mayor Michael Bloomburgh who decides I cannot purchase a large soda but of course he can eat rich foods. Then why drive an old unsafe car without air bags and crumple zones? Why drive a car that is too fast? It is a very slippery slope. And what about the people who eat right, exercise and get cancer at an early age? How about letting people live their own lives.
I was listening to a talk show host who lives in SF. A person came up and said to him, nice Corvette, do you realize how many kids could be fed by the price of that car. His answer. Yes, I do, Do you know how many kids were fed by the people who mined the copper for the wiring, the metal, he people who manufacture it and the parts, transport the parts, etc. Capitalism works if you let it. The Gov't creates no goods or services, that anyone wants to purchase. They steal your wealth legally in what's called taxes from your physical or intellectual labor. Where are hey entitled to take and take and make decisions for families? The people In Washington who are corrupt. rich, lie and cheat on their spouses?

There's no reason for an insurance company to exist anymore. Pay your premium directly to your health care provider. There is almost no independent doctors anymore, they all work under larger authorities. So pay the larger authority. Eliminate the insurance company as a middleman. Base your premium on your assessed risk like any and all other forms of insurance. I'm in excellent shape and never go to the Doctor. Why do I pay the same premium as some six hundred pound cheeseburger queen that sees the Doctor three times a week? Wouldn't that promote a healthier America. How about a ten percent premium refund for not going to the Doctor more than twice a year? How about the elimination of the AMA? They dictate rules that Doctors must operate under. They regulate the number of Doctors and Medical Students. How about the GOP doing a little more than sticking their fingers in their ears?

Be careful what you wish for. If the government takes over our health care it's safe to assume it will be no better than the VA!

I have no idea why you seem to think the medical system that we have now is so awesome. It sucks. With all the equipment and technology that we have, the misdiagnosis rate is no better than it was in the forties. We don't have a health care system. What we have is a symptom and pain management system. So don't flatter them. Kick them in the nuts and demand better.

"Businesses are not the enemy. They hire people an write paychecks!"
Lead will argue with you on that.

You bet your *** I will. A local here is a billionaire heir to the Stryker Medical Equipment fortune. Her and her siblings are "Billionaires" with a "B" because of beds!!! Hospital Beds, not life saving medical equipment. You got to be shitting me if you approve. The government that you so hate regulates what a goddam tow truck can charge, but hot the medical industry, and you're good with it? You are part of the problem.

I paid my own premiums and had great health coverage until "obamacare" was shoved down my throat! My policy was cancelled because I had "NO MATERNITY" provisions! WTF does a 65 year old guy that has been clipped need with a maternity policy???? IT IS CALLED SOCIALISM!!! I don't want to pay for others stupidity, but it buys votes for the liberal side!!!!
