There is a gasket under the carb, looks like about 1/4 thick to me. The carb probably could use a rebuild. So when I find the time I will rebuild the carb, replace the float, and do the timing and valves and see how it is then. Maybe next week. Thanks for the help, guys.

I'm interested in one and if I found a complete engine+tranny like yours locally I personally might pay up to $150. But yes, they do often go for free and there isn't much of a market for them. I want one so I could do a turbo build and keep my original engine unmolested.

The steering wheel in my 70 duster (slant six, automatic on the column) squeaks when turning left. Not always, but often enough, and it's really annoying. I took a video, of course it mostly stopped doing it while I was recording... but you can hear the squeak in the video (it's usually worse)...
